MP Natalie Fleet and daughter discuss changing the law for rape survivors
Two years ago, Natalie realised that her boyfriend – who was 24 years old when she was 15 – wasn’t just an older man, but in fact, grooming her. She has campaigned since then to change the law – a reform that has been adopted in a bill officially passed by parliament on Wednesday.

Yesterday, another entire coachful of my constituents came to Parliament! Although not quite as impressive as Bolsover castle, it’s a really amazing estate and I’m so glad that so many people could get down and experience it.
Families, school staff, and members of Bolsover Youth Action and Rok-Ard Kickboxing were taken on a tour through the historic Westminster and St Stephen’s Halls and saw the weird and wonderful procedures of a House of Commons Chamber debate. I hope everyone learnt a bit more about how it all works and enjoyed the amazing stories from history that you hear about every feature of the place.

🚛 UPDATE: HGV Concerns on Rylah Hill
Following concerns raised by local residents about HGVs using Rylah Hill in and out of Palterton, I wanted to share an update on the work taking place to address the issue. Derbyshire Police have now carried out a site visit and proactive patrols to assess the situation firsthand.
The visit identified a number of issues:
HGV signage: While signage approaching Rylah Hill from the M1 is clear, there is a lack of further signage when approaching from Palterton to indicate where HGVs should no longer proceed.
Junction safety: Concerns have also been raised about vehicles failing to give way at the junction in Palterton. It is clear that a stop sign and new road markings would improve safety.
Continued HGV use: Individual concerns in the area have been raised about HGVs continued use of the road, which highlights the ongoing nature of the problem.
I will write to Derbyshire County Council to request an update on what action can be taken in light of these findings. I'm grateful to Derbyshire Police for taking residents' concerns seriously and carrying out this work. Getting your foot through the door into the world of work has always been difficult, but even more so now. As a mum to young adults, I’ve seen the challenges first-hand and I know how much it means when an employer gives you that chance.
It’s fantastic to now see the Government working with hospitality employers to create 100,000 job, training and work experience opportunities for young people. I’d love to see more young people across our area getting the chance to build their confidence, learn new skills and find something they enjoy doing.

Good news for drivers! 🚗
The Government has announced new protections against unfair private parking fines.
Drivers will get 5 minutes to decide whether to park and 10 minutes to leave, and fines will be cancelled for genuine mistakes. Maximum charges will also be frozen at £100.
There’ll also be tougher action against dealers who wind back car mileage.

⚠️ Update on the 23/23A Bus Service in Shirebrook
Following concerns raised by residents about the recent changes to the 23/23A bus service, we have now received a response from Stagecoach.
Stagecoach has explained that the changes were introduced to improve reliability. The previous two hourly routes have been replaced by one service that runs every 30 minutes, in addition to an extra bus for the 23/23A fleet. Early figures suggest these changes have seen increased passenger numbers and improved punctuality.
However, some residents will now face longer walks to bus stops. While a more reliable service is welcome, accessibility remains equally important - especially for elderly residents and those with mobility issues.
Stagecoach has confirmed that the route will remain under review, and I will continue to raise residents' concerns.
